After a 16 month gap in our usually-busy college visit routine, Magellan counselors were back on the road yesterday and visited our first campus since March 12, 2020.
Suzie, Diane, Fay and Evelyn visited Westmont College, a small Christian college in the hills above Santa Barbara. You can find our writeup and photo gallery from that visit here.
Magellan’s independent college counselors typically visit between 20 and 40 colleges per year – and we’ve visited over 400 colleges in the last ten years! Visiting colleges is an important part of how we help our students build balanced college lists. Meeting students, seeing academic, dining and residential facilities and talking with admission officers helps us get the “vibe” of a campus and learn more about what types of students each admission office is seeking, and which students are happy and successful at each school.

Visiting colleges is a great way to get the feel for each college. Don’t just visit “reach” schools – visit a broad spectrum to see what you like and what you really MUST have.
As always, if you need a little help, feel free to get in touch!
