College fairs are a great way to learn about colleges, meet admissions counselors who are responsible for your area, and let them know you are interested. Fill out those postcards! You may want to print out a sheet of labels before you to go a fair with the following information:
- student’s name and GRADUATION YEAR
- student’s e-mail address
- student’s home address
This way you can just walk by, introduce yourself, slap a label onto one of their response postcards, pick up some materials and keep on going. By the way – the “introduce yourself” part is really important – not only do you get to meet the person who will read your application, but keep in mind that that admissions counselor is on the road for sometimes weeks at a time and is eager to actually speak to you. They refer to people who snatch materials but don’t say hello as “drive-bys.”
