I toured Michigan State University this week (yes, in February, and YES, I can confirm for you that it’s MIGHTY COLD in Michigan in February!) and my tour guide Katlyn did an excellent job of talking about how the feeling she got when she first visited Michigan State was the top factor in her decision to attend MSU.
Visiting colleges gives you an opportunity to walk across campus, mingle with the students and sometimes even faculty, and to really get a sense of how you will feel as a student there. Visiting when school is in session is best; the campus will not feel the same if you visit during the summer or during a school break. And while you may not want to visit during the harshest part of the winter, it will certainly give you a feel for what you’re in for if you go there!
