The University of California Application

The nine UC campuses have one application for admission.  Students can apply to one campus, or all nine through the application located here.

The application is fairly straightforward; students self-report test scores and grades from high school classes in the a-g subject categories.  Students are not required to send in a transcript; the UCs only require a transcript at the end of the academic year for students who choose to enroll.  Students can send SAT scores to just one UC campus, and they will be shared with all campuses.

Students are required to write two essays; the essay prompts can be found here.  Teacher recommendations are not required.

Most importantly:  The UC application deadline is November 30th.
DON’T WAIT until the last minute to submit them!!!

Students should receive decisions from the UC campuses between February and March, with UCLA and UC Berkeley’s decisions coming the last week in March.  Remember, unless you apply Early Decision to a school (binding decision, not an option at the UC schools), you have until May 1 to decide where you will attend.
