Read your school’s profile, so you understand the context in which colleges will evaluate you. (What’s a school profile, you ask? Read this!)
(Mostly for parents but for students as well!) Learn how the college financial aid process works, and start to think about what you really want to spend on four years of college. After reading this blog post and watching the webinar (about 35 minutes), go to the practice EFC Calculator on the College Board’s website to start to understand what colleges will expect you to pay.
More on what your rising senior should be doing this summer in this post.
Introducing the College App ZAP
This six-week program will give your rising senior all the info they need to build a balanced college list, present their activities effectively and write compelling essays. ZAP students will attend six live group meetings with Magellan founder Evelyn Jerome-Alexander, as well as two one-on-one meetings with one of our trained college counselors. ZAP students may also send final college essays for review.
We will run this program two separate times with identical content (ie choose one, not both): Thursdays in June/July (6/10-7/15) for those who want to get started over the summer, and Sundays in Sept/Oct (9/12-10/17). At $795, this is truly affordable college application guidance! You can add time if you want.
College admission looks very different today than it did when we applied 20-something years ago. Admission rates are a fraction of what they were when we applied – and the process is much more unpredictable. You can work with your child through the process, but it’s ok to ask for help from experts.
We’ll take you from #HotMess to #StressLess!
Our counselors are booking clients in the Class of 2022 and 2023.
Host A Virtual “College Info” Seminar For Friends
Are your friends starting to think about (read: get anxious about!) college? You can host a private virtual college admissions information seminar for your friends or fellow “pandemic pod” parents! We can tailor our presentation for parents of 8th, 9th, 10th or 11th grade students.
We do not charge for presentations.
