News and Info for Everyone!

Seniors – March is YOUR month – you will know all of your admission decisions by the end of the month!  There’s still time to apply for scholarships – you can check out MeritAid.com, Scholarships.com, and the scholarship search on the College Board’s Big Future website.

Juniors – you have SIX MONTHS until your senior year begins.  How will you use that time?  Start exploring colleges now!  Start thinking about what you want your college experience to be!  Start considering what you have to offer colleges; this will help when you start to write your personal statement/essay.  Junior parents – please give us a call if you’d like to have a personal consultation about how Magellan can help your junior through the next six months, and then the application process in the fall.  Early and organized means less stress in the long run.

Sophomores – your class is special because the SAT will be changing next March – in spring of your junior year.  How should you approach this change?  Parents – feel free to get in touch if you’d like to talk about a customized standardized testing timeline for your 10th grader.

March Tips:

9th/10th/11th Graders:

  • Create a resume, including all extra-curricular activities (sports, arts, volunteer work, employment, etc.) from 9th grade on.
  • Visit a local college (or two!) during spring break, just to get the feel of a campus! (Here are some tips on useful questions you can ask.)
  • Ask the college counselor at your school which college admissions reps will be visiting this spring!
  • Register for challenging classes for next year.
