Free Initial Consultation policy: Magellan is happy to meet with students and families for a free 60-minute consultation. Subsequent meetings will be subject to hourly rates, which will be credited back for those who sign up for Magellan’s comprehensive college counseling plan.

UC/CSU Apps Due 11/30! DON’T PANIC! We Have a Workshop on 11/23!
If you haven’t completed your UC and CSU applications, Magellan College Counseling will host “DON’T PANIC,” a 3-hour workshop, from 11 am to 2 pm on Sunday, November 23rd. This is the Sunday before Thanksgiving – let’s get your applications submitted BEFORE Thanksgiving!!! FREE for Magellan comprehensive and mini-plan clients; $150 for all others. Limited space – RSVP REQUIRED.
We will also offer a Financial Aid workshop for 11th and 12th grade parents on Sunday, 12/14 from 1-3 pm in West Hills. More info to come next week.
This Year, I’m Thankful For…..
Your high school senior may be thankful that s/he’s almost done submitting college applications. Or that the process is well under control. But please keep in mind that many colleges do not send acceptance letters out until spring – February or March. So your high school senior will be MOST THANKFUL if everyone at the Thanksgiving dinner table would not focus the conversation on where he/she is going to college. Hopefully you can steer the conversation to other topics that don’t elicit a sigh or a roll of the eyes from your teenager.
November TIPS:
10th/11th Grade Parents: Help Your Student Organize a College E-mail Account (it’s not too early!)
Create a separate e-mail account just for college information. Simplify the name – maybe Evelyn.College@gmail.com. This is the e-mail address to give to colleges when your student requests college info.
Show your student how to create folders within his/her e-mail account to keep it organized!
Seniors – You Can Submit Apps Before Deadlines!! Even if your teachers have not submitted their recommendations yet (and you can see this through Naviance or the Common App), you can still submit your applications! Are your essays done? Why wait!? Submit!
