Have You Started Those Essays Yet?
For rising seniors, summer is the best time to get started on college essays. Why wait until school starts, senior year sets in, and extra-curricular activities take up all your spare time? Reading great college essays may inspire you to elevate your writing to the next level. Check out these examples:
I also recommend reading books in which actual college essays are published. There are a gazillion books that attempt to tell you HOW to write your college essay – I’m currently reading The Art of the College Essay, by Gabrielle Glancy, which is great. Here are a few more sites with free and inexepensive resources:
Rising juniors are about to head into the “tough” year, and it’s not too early to start exploring majors, thinking about their ideal learning environment and looking at colleges. Visiting a few colleges – we have great options within a few hour radius of Los Angeles – is a great way to get a jump start on the process for your soon-to-be-11th grader!
Reminder: Magellan’s comprehensive college counseling plan includes 30+ hours of meetings/assistance from the first day of the student’s junior year. Parents of 10th graders – contact us now to schedule your first meeting!
