Click here for my reviews and photos! | Preparing for the Next Step For students who have just completed their junior year of high school, the next few months are critical. They should spend time over the summer refining their college list, starting their personal statements and beginning their applications. All of this can be done before school starts, when the pressure of new classes, new teachers and extra-curricular activities will mount. The bottom line: spending time over the summer on the college search will reduce stress for both students and families during the fall.

Even if you can’t fly out of town, visit local colleges, like Loyola Marymount, USC or UCLA. Take the official tour, and talk to students on campus. You can read my impressions of the colleges I have toured (inside California and outside of California). Create your resume NOW. Keep track of all of your volunteer, extra-curricular and work activities. Make sure to count all of your volunteer activities, both in school and out of school!
