Seniors – It’s Finally March!!

High school seniors – you’ve almost made it!  You’ll have all your college decisions back by the end of this month.  CONGRATS!  Best of luck as those decisions roll in!  BTW – check your e-mail DAILY at this point!

Upcoming Presentations

  • Thursday, March 16, 6-7:30 pm: THIS HANDS-ON WORKSHOP IS FOR STUDENTS!  Evelyn will get students started thinking about majors and their college priorities, and give them resources to start building their college list.  Location: Youth Lounge at Shomrei Torah Synagogue, 7353 Valley Circle Blvd., West Hills.   • Saturday, March 25, 10 am to noon: Evelyn will co-present a College Planning Seminar with test prep expert Shawn Kane and financial advisor Arica Ohanisian.  FREE for all!  Please RSVP through our EventBrite page.
  • Sunday, April 2, 10 am: Evelyn and Diana will present about colleges with an eye towards merit scholarships at a private home in Mid-city LA.  Please e-mail Evelyn if you are interested in attending.
  • Sunday, April 2, 3 pm:  Evelyn and Debbie will present about the college admissions process at a private home in Westlake Village.  Please e-mail Evelyn if you are interested in attending.

Parent Corner

  • If you have a junior (Class of 2018) student, Magellan is now offering both our comprehensive college counseling plan (35 hours) as well as our popular 20-hour mini-plan.  Call or e-mail us to learn more about how we can make your soon-to-be-senior’s college application process more organized and less stressful.
  • We will begin signing contracts for sophomores (Class of 2019) next month.  The mini-plan will be available for this class in March of next year.

College Admissions Testing

  • Next ACT: April 8 (late registration here)
  • Next SAT: May 6 (register by April 7)
  • NEW for the Classes of 2018 and 2019: There will be an August SAT this year (August 26)
  • Khan Academy provides free SAT prep! Link your College Board account (everyone who took the PSAT has an account) with Khan Academy.
  • Quesbook has free ACT prep with daily question sets.
  • Call us for tutor and test prep referrals

For Friends

Are your friends starting to think about (read: get anxious about!) college?  Please get in touch if you are interested in hosting a college admissions information seminar at your home.  We can tailor our presentation for parents of 8th, 9th, 10th or 11th grade students, or a combination.
