The best way to get a feel for a college – the personalities, the environment, even the academics – is to visit personally.  Magellan's team has visited over 350 colleges over the past seven years.  Here are some thoughts on the college campuses we’ve seen (We personally took all of the pictures on these pages!)

State by State Guide

Alabama Colleges and Universities

Auburn University -- With a highly ranked business school and big school spirit, this small town school features a strong football culture and provides undecided students an interesting option for exploration with over 140 different majors.

Birmingham Southern College , opens in new tab -- A private liberal arts college in Birmingham affiliated with the United Methodist Church, BSC enrolls just over 1,200 students with an avergae class size of only 16 students and a personalized experience in whoch every senior presents a capstone project.

Samford University , opens in new tab -- Located in Birmingham with an enrollment of approximately 3,500 students, this private university boasts a strong core curriculum with classes in culturall perspectives, communication arts, biblical foundations, and concepts in fitness/health.

University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa) -- With traditions rooted in football and great amounts of school spirit (you may recognize the common phrase "Roll Tide"), Alabama's flagship campus offers students over 80 majors within 10 colleges, and provides a strong honors college for approximately 6,000 students to make the large campus fell like a smaller community.

Arizona Colleges and Universities

Arizona State University -- ASU's five campuses (featuring Tempe as the largest) offer 60% in-state/40% out-of-state students with a varitey of opportunities including: abundant scholarship opportunities, an honors college where every student publishes a thesis, and the School of Sustainability, which is the first of its kind in the nation.

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University , opens in new tab -- With renowned programs in aviation, security and intelligence, and engineering, the Prescott campus of ERAU gives students the opportunity for a highly specialized education in the sciences and its own nationally recognized Flight Team.

Northern Arizona University -- Featuring the only accredited teaching program in Arizona, a top 15 program in hotel and restaurant management, and an undergraduate enrollment of approximately 20,000 students, NAU offers CA students WUE tuition and admits along similar lines to U of A and ASU.

Prescott College , opens in new tab -- A small liberal arts college, Prescott is known for its experiential approach and curricula in environmemntal studies, psychology, and parks, recreation, and leisure studies.

University of Arizona -- Known for its school spirit and many regarded programs within its 12 colleges, U of A draws in an enrollment of approximately 34,000 students who are active in campus life (with 43 different fraternities and sororities for students to participate in if they choose.)

Arkansas Colleges and Universities

University of Arkansas , opens in new tab -- With a total enrollment of over 27,000 students, Arkansas' top major public research university offers students Division I Athletics, almost ⅓ of students participating in Greek Life, and popular academic programs in nursing, finance, and agricultural sciences.

Adams State University

Colorado College

Colorado Mesa University

Colorado Mountain College

Colorado State University (Ft. Collins, flagship campus)

Colorado State University, Pueblo

Fort Lewis College

Durango-based Fort Lewis College has a special interest in recruiting first generation and Native American students to its liberal arts campus. Naropa University

The main campus of the CU system, Boulder offers students the best of a suburban campus and a close proximity to Denver with popular majors including business, psychology, and economics, as well as a tremendous amount of school spirit. University of Colorado, Colorado Springs

UCCS is focused on providing students with degree programs that will get them out and working after school. This campus of over 12,000 students is a great fit for those interested in business and a variety of fields within the health sciences. University of Northern Colorado (Greeley)

UNC (a member of the WUE to offer students in the western states reduced tuition) offers students who are undecided a strong exploratory program, and students who are passionate about majors such as jazz studies, nursing, and the sciences the opportunity to dive into their specific curriculum head first.
