Sheri believes that, with the right planning and guidance, the college application experience can be fun, enlightening and rewarding. Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Sheri ventured to the east coast to attend college in Boston and law school in Washington, D.C. She lived in Portland, Oregon and Niigata, Japan before returning to California and settling in Mill Valley. After practicing employment law, Sheri took time off to be the primary caregiver for her three sons. She enjoyed volunteering at their schools, being active in the PTA, coaching soccer and managing little league baseball and lacrosse teams. During this time, she also realized that her true passion relates to education. Sheri founded Fun Family Field Trip, an educational travel website for families with young children, focusing primarily on the National Parks. In her free time, Sheri likes hiking with friends, kayaking, photography, traveling and sustainable gardening.
After supporting her sons through their college application processes (Columbia University and Claremont McKenna College), Sheri became an independent college counselor, working closely with her clients to build a balanced list of schools that reflects their interests and needs – the “best fit” schools for each student. Sheri helps students discover and develop their passions, working with them to find meaningful extracurricular experiences. Similarly, she helps students find their voice and effectively share their stories in their essays. Sheri’s client-centric, highly personalized college counseling approach employs the research, writing, advocacy, oral communication and listening skills she used when she practiced law. Sheri advises students who have a wide range of interests, talents and needs, including athletes, artists, high achieving students and students with learning differences.
Sheri holds a Bachelor’s degree (with Honors) in International Relations from Boston University and a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from The American University Washington College of Law, as well as the Certificate in College Counseling from UC Berkeley. She is a member of the California, Oregon and Washington State Bar Associations.
