San Fernando Valley native Nicole Miramontes was the first in her family to go to college, and she’s currently the Director of College Advising at a local charter high school, where she also advises the school’s California Scholarship Federation chapter. Nicole excels in guiding students through the process of creating a balanced college list, crafting and revising personal statements, supplemental essay questions and the UC Personal Insight Questions.
Because she was a first-generation college student, Nicole is dedicated to being available to answer any questions her students and parents have. Every student has different preferences related to the college experience, so she emphasizes working together to find the right fit for each student.
Nicole attended Mount St. Mary’s University in Los Angeles, graduating with her BA in American Studies, cum laude. This major provided her with a broad liberal arts education that has served her well in working in education over the last 8 years. After graduating from MSMU, Nicole earned her Certificate in College Counseling from UCLA Extension, and has completed Harvard University’s Summer Institute on College Admissions.
Although she enjoys helping students with all parts of the college planning and application process, Nicole is an expert in the UC and Cal State systems. A member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) and the Western affiliate, WACAC, Nicole frequently attends conferences and visits colleges to keep her skills and knowledge up to date.
In her spare time, Nicole is a huge football fan! Go UCLA Bruins and San Francisco 49ers! She also enjoys taking spin classes and hanging out with her kitty, Coco.
