College Counselor Marissa Margosian

Marissa has been a college counselor and English teacher in public, independent day, and boarding schools in New York, New Hampshire, North Carolina, and Maryland over the last 25 years.

Marissa is active in the National Association for College Admission Counseling, several regional associations (Potomac & Chesapeake, NY, and Southern), and the Small Boarding School Association. She has presented sessions at national and regional conferences, including “Advocating for Students” and “Helping Students with Anxiety Transition into Boarding School and into College.”  Marissa keeps current on college admission trends by attending conferences and workshops, participating in webinars, and visiting college campuses. She has visited more than 500 college in 37 states, and posts information and photos at www.CampusEncounters.wordpress.com.

For the last thirteen summers, Marissa has worked as a Site Director for Johns Hopkins’ Center for Talented Youth programs at La Jolla Country Day School. She also spends a month providing college counseling for the Royal Thai Scholars to teach them about the U.S. university system and admission process.

Marissa holds BA from Elmira College, an MAT in Secondary English Education from SUNY Cortland, and a Certificate (with distinction) in College Counseling from UCLA.
