More Info: U of Oregon, Willamette

loveOregonI visited a number of colleges in Oregon a few weeks ago, and I am organizing information that I received when I was there.  This post will share some useful information about the University of Oregon and Willamette University.

I spent a half day at the University of Oregon, which has an impressive campus in a beautiful college town, as well as well-regarded programs in education, music, architecture, journalism, environmental sciences, and more.  Below is a power point presentation that summarizes the different colleges within the university.

On the same trip, I spent several hours at Willamette University, a small liberal arts college in the state capital of Salem.  Willamette was added last year to the group of schools known as “Colleges That Change Lives,” a list created nearly 40 years ago by then-NY Times Education editor Loren Pope, and updated last year by another education expert/advocate, at the request of Pope’s family (he died in 2008).  The schools in this group are mostly small, mostly liberal arts, and except for one, outside of California – and most have the philosophy of a small, hands-on education.  And if you are reading this post the day I wrote it, there’s still time – there’s a college fair TONIGHT at the Universal Hilton during which you will have the opportunity to meet representatives from most of these schools.

Here’s what the woman who updated the Colleges That Change Lives wrote about Willamette University:
